"Toxic Pod" 2017
I donated the pod to the WDC "Whale and Dolphin Conservation" The aim was to create a pod filled with beach rubbish including items that are having a negative impact on the health of orcas and oceans as a whole, most of the items all have the same thing in common they are made from plastic.
One of the members of "Toxic Pod" made it to parliament! the WDC have a ton of ideas to get the most use out of them as possible.
Unfortunately also PCBs that we created and unleashed upon the oceans and rivers are continuing to have a negative affect on the breeding of orcas and many other species, it accumulates in the fat or blubber and is ingested through the food chain.
Lulu a North Atlantic type 2 orca hear in the UK was beached in 2016 with the highest level of PCBs ever found in an ocean creature! the likely fate of the pod is they will die out, with no calf in over 20 year's it's likely the PCBs we unleashed will be a death sentence for the pod. As far as I understand the pod is the only North Atlantic type 2 orcas in the world.
Not all of "Toxic Pod" glows but the idea was to highlight the invisible killer PCB.
They are made from clear cast resin that was poured into a two part silicon mold. The original orca was made from polymer clay and a wire armature.
